Standish Humane Society is set to receive a $10,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals through their out-of-state transport program that brings cats from high-kill states to Massachusetts for adoption.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $350 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.7 million pets adopted and counting.

said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet image technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

Standish Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting our local community with rehoming adoptable cats and kittens to safe, loving forever homes. We promote low cost spay and neuters to reduce the overpopulation of felines on the South Shore of MA and engage in efforts to actively trap, neuter, feed and assess community cat colonies to further reduce the overpopulation and suffering of outdoor kitties. Through programs like our out-of-state-transport, for which Petco Love is generously providing this grant, we bring cats to Massachusetts for adoption from states with severe overpopulation, saving healthy animals from euthanasia.
